We are seeking an experienced Tooling Engineer to join our team in Columbus, Mississippi, specializing in the development of innovative tooling solutions for large-scale metal missile canister manufacturing. This role is integral to advancing our production capabilities and ensuring the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive tooling solutions for metal missile canister production.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality assurance, and design engineers to enhance production processes.
- Establish and implement tooling standards, guidelines, and best practices for metal fabrication at scale.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to ensure optimal tooling performance and quality output.
- Lead initiatives for continuous improvement to boost production efficiency, reduce cycle times, and extend tool lifespan.
- Diagnose and resolve tooling-related issues to ensure consistent production flow.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tooling engineering, particularly in large-scale metal manufacturing for aerospace or defense sectors.
- Demonstrated expertise in tooling design and fabrication, with a focus on metal structures like missile or canister manufacturing.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and FEA analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of metalworking processes such as welding, machining, forming, and assembly.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma or equivalent process improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a collaborative team-oriented approach.
Preferred Skills:
- Specialized experience in missile canister tooling and assembly.
- Knowledge of high-tolerance manufacturing practices and large-scale quality assurance protocols.
- Experience working with the Department of Defense or similar government entities.
