Quality Assurance Technician

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for performing in-process audits and testing, SOP audits, and evaluations to assure quality labels per customer specifications. Verify and document customer required certifications/inspection reports.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read and understand factory order specifications.
  • Perform material and product tests using quality lab test equipment and formal testing methods.
  • Perform in-process audits and internal audits to verify standard operating procedures are being followed.
  • Maintain Quality Retains records and samples.
  • Work with production supervisors in meeting customer quality requirements and solve quality issues.
  • Communicates effectively with all manufacturing personnel, next shift personnel and others in a professional manner.
  • Evaluate colors for matching customer color standards.
  • Prepare customer 'certificate of compliance' or 'certificate of analyses for individual customer shipments.
  • Assist QA manager as directed.
  • Work with measurements, micrometers, and other specific lab tests to ensure quality.
  • Keep work areas clean and orderly.
  • Prepare records, reports and enter data on factory work orders to provide documentation and to support Quality department.
  • Willing to work flexible schedule as production requirements dictate.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Must follow established safety guidelines.
  • Must have a good working relationship with Production Supervisors, operators, finishing personnel, support groups to manufacturing, and management.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings and observe all safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have strong analytic, mathematical, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be practical, with good decision making skills
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Must be able to work independently and set priorities to meet firm reporting deadlines

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

ANALYTICAL SKILLS

  • Problem solving, individual and group facilitation

REASONING ABILITY

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Ability to access, retrieve, update and review files utilizing Microsoft Office and Excel. Advanced Excel skills desired.
